There were other Sargison families in New Zealand, even in Otago which was at the time the economic hub of the country. Alexander Thomas Sargison was the 2nd cousin 4x removed of the Sargison brothers. Born in Surrey in 1836 he moved to Australia where he married Ellen Sophia Parsons in 1862. As it turns out the paper got the name wrong – it should have been Jonathan Sarginson. In a lot of instances Sargison and Sarginson were used interchangeably. In fact Sargison seemed the preferred!
