  Posted 11 jul 2012 by TreeGazer Taken from Bill Hunt Snr's notes: Frank bought a property at 91 Opoho Road. When he died in 1920, his widow, Mary Sprague redesigned the front of the house to accommodate a small shop from which she sold sweets, biscuits and home-made scones to the Knox College students and the general public. This was to help support her five children, all of whom have now gone: Frank Sprague: who later had a property across the gully from number 91; he was well known in the district and President of the Alhambra rugby Club for many years. Newton Sprague: a Timaru resident who ran the Sprague and Sexton service station at Salt Water Creek. Myrtle Sprague: my mother Dick Sprague: who went to the war in 1939 and spent most of the next five years in Stalag VIIIB Ivy Ernestine Sprague: known to us all as Tuppy or Tup, which came from the term tuppence as she was so small.
